In the middle of 2008 Rob, Mike and Ryan W got together to jam. They had such a
good time they decided to form a band and started to create their own identity by
playing songs that were a little harder and more obscure, like songs from Metallica,
Megadeth, Iron Maiden and Stone Temple Pilots. Joel jumped on board a short time
later followed by Ryan B who joined in the late summer. They performed their first
official gig on September 6, 2008 and haven't looked back. They have since grown
their song list to over 60 songs and continue to add more at almost every show.
Songs from bands like The Cult, Foo Fighters, Motley Crue, AC/DC and Guns n Roses
round out their list to give their audience a great mix of songs that a variety of
listening tastes could enjoy. They have begun to forge their imprint on today's
Music Scene as one of the better and unique Rock Cover Bands in San Diego.
In March of 2011, Ryan W decided to move on. And although he is missed,
the band continues to rock on.
Joel got started singing in a Church Music Group. As a good
friend of Mike's he found himself hanging out at the band room
(Mike's garage) as the band was getting started. Before this he
thought Metallica was a paint chip at Frazee. But liked the songs
and asked to try out. The transition from Choir to Metal was a
piece of cake for Joel. A very versatile singer, Joel is often
complimented on how much he sounds much like the singer of
the song we are playing. On stage he clearly is the spark plug for
our performances and shows so much passion and energy, you
will leave the show exhausted just from watching him.

The Band
Rob - Guitar
Rob grew up listening to Rush and Judas Priest. He picked up a
guitar for the first time as a teenager and took to it quickly. He
developed his own style from a balance of the driving riffs of
Glenn Tipton and the melodic rythms of Alex Lifeson. He played
in band that played mostly Rush songs with both of his brothers
for a couple of years and hung it up for a while. That band
reunited for a party a few years back and sparked Rob's interest
in music once again. After jamming with Mike and others at
Mike's Birthday Party, he knew he had to get back into it. He
hooked up with Mike and the rest is history. Now he rocks the
stage each show with a dynamic all his own.
Mike - Drums
Mike began playing drums in high school and enjoyed listening
to Soundgarden and Pantera but is a true fan of all music. His
talent as a drummer puts him among the best in San Diego. His
drum kit is huge and he knows how to use every piece. His
timing is impeccible and his chops are rivaled only by his
modesty. If only we could get him to do a damn drum solo.
Mike was the key element to the beginning of 1Louder. On a
recent birthday, he had a party and invited many musician
friends to come and jam. Rob and Ryan B were among them
and the idea of a band was started. Mike came up with the
original name of the band - Pinksnake.
Ryan B - Bass
As most good bass players are, Ryan was completely inspired
by Geddy Lee of Rush. Rush and Yes were most of what he
listened to when learning to play the bass and some of Lee's
style can be heard in Ryan's chops. After playing in a couple of
cover bands in high school, he took a break from college to
work on an original project that didn't pan out. Since then, his
only other real project was an short-lived original one with
Mike in the mid 90's. While watching the first and only
"Pinksnake" performance, the itch to play returned. He joined
the band shortly thereafter, the band changed the name to
1Louder, and the rest is history.
1Louder is a group of talented musicians who love to rock a little louder. We put on a high energy performance
each time we play with songs you can dance and rock to and that you'll recognize and enjoy.
